The fine print

Terms of Sale

Last updated: 31 August 2026

These are the terms that apply when you buy from Buyurchar. We’ve written them in plain English because that’s how we’d want them explained to us. By placing an order you’re agreeing to them — and nothing in them takes away any right the law gives you.

Who you’re buying from

Buyurchar is a small family-run handmade-biochar business in Sydney, New South Wales, trading under the registered business name Buyurchar (ABN 43 741 122 089). The best way to reach us about anything below is hello@buyurchar.com — we read everything.

Our products

Our biochar is made by hand in small batches from reclaimed Australian hardwood. It’s a natural product, so bags can vary a little in texture and appearance from batch to batch — that’s the nature of the thing, not a fault. Volumes stated (1 litre, 3 litres, 5 litres) are measured at packing.

Use it in the garden: our biochar is a soil conditioner for garden and compost use. It isn’t a food, an animal feed, or a filtration product, and like any soil product it should be kept away from small children and pets and handled with normal garden common sense (a dust mask is sensible if you’re working with it dry on a windy day).

Prices and payment

All prices are in Australian dollars. Payment is taken at checkout by Stripe, a secure payment provider — your card details go to Stripe, never to us. Your order is confirmed when your payment succeeds, and Stripe emails you a receipt.

If we make an obvious pricing mistake on the site, we may cancel and fully refund an affected order rather than supply at the wrong price — we’ll tell you if that ever happens.

Delivery

Damaged, lost or missing deliveries

If your order arrives damaged, or doesn’t arrive within a reasonable time of the estimate, email us within 7 days of delivery (or expected delivery) — a photo of any damage helps us claim against the courier. We’ll replace the order or refund it in full, including what you paid for delivery. That’s on us, not you. (The 7 days is what lets us claim against the courier — it doesn’t limit any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law.)

Returns

We don’t offer refunds, exchanges or returns for change of mind — please choose carefully before you order. This does not affect any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law, including for faulty products (see below).

Your rights under Australian Consumer Law

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Nothing in these terms — including the returns policy above — limits those rights.

Refunds

Refunds go back to your original payment method through Stripe. We action them promptly; banks typically take 5–10 business days to show the money.

The legal bits, briefly

To the extent the law allows (and it never overrides your Australian Consumer Law rights), our liability for any claim connected to an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales.

Changes to these terms

If we update these terms, the new version applies to orders placed after it’s published here. The date at the top tells you when that was.
